Chemical Constituents and Components : Mainchemical constitutes are nelumbine, nuciferine, dehydronuciferine,ß-sitosterol, asparagine, nelumboside, lotusine, neferine, palmiticacid, nicotinic acid, glucose and amino acids.
Action :
Polysaccharids:
1. It significantly suppresses activated human peripheral bloodmononuclear cells (PBMC) proliferation.
2. It reduces blood sugar level and increases the glucose tolerancein body.
3. It exhibites strong free radical scavenging activity.
4. It significantly lowers the normal body temperature and yeastprovoked elevation of body temperature.
5. It suppresses T-cell proliferation.
Saponins:
1. It significantly reduces the level of blood triglycerides.
